# Profile & Settings

> Your personal settings: username, language, avatar, notifications

Your profile is where personal settings live. Some settings are account-level (apply across every community you've joined); others are community-specific.

## What you can change

* **Username** — your displayed name in the community. Some communities have a cooldown on changes.
* **Avatar** — your profile picture.
* **Language** — if the community has multiple languages configured, pick which one you want to see.
* **Email** — the email on file (visible after sign-in).
* **Notifications** — toggle which notifications you receive. See [Notifications](/user-guide/profile/notifications).

## Opening your profile

From the main nav, tap your avatar. Depending on community layout you'll see a drawer, a side panel, or a dedicated profile page. Sidebar profile edits sync immediately to the profile drawer so you don't need to refresh.

## Language

Language switching is available when the community has enabled multiple languages. Your choice persists to your account — switching communities keeps your language preference unless the new community doesn't support it.

## Tabs

Profile pages are typically split into tabs: overview, notifications, and (when applicable) preferences. The tabs you see depend on your community's configuration.
