Content Best Practices
In a community, your words are your “User Experience.” A well-written challenge can feel like a game; a poorly written one feels like homework. This guide helps you strike the right tone and structure your content for maximum engagement.Time to Read: 6 minutes
Goal: Increase challenge completion rates by improving your copy and imagery.
1. The Power of the Hook (Titles)
Your title is the only thing a user sees before they decide to click.| Instead of… (Boring) | Try this… (Exciting) | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| ”Survey about the app" | "Help us build the future 🚀“ | Focuses on impact and uses an emoji. |
| ”Weekly Quiz" | "Can you beat the Pro level? 🧠“ | Creates a challenge and uses a question. |
| ”Refer a friend" | "Give 10 💸“ | Highlights the immediate benefit. |
| ”Watch this video" | "Sneak Peek: What’s coming next” | Creates curiosity and “exclusive” feel. |
2. The “Hand-Holding” Description
Once they click, don’t overwhelm them. Use the 3-S Rule:- Short: Keep descriptions under 200 characters if possible.
- Specific: Tell them exactly what to do. “Watch the video and answer the 3 questions below.”
- Social: Use “We” and “You.” “We’d love to hear your thoughts on this!“
3. Imagery: More Than Just Decoration
Challenges with custom images have a 2.5x higher click-rate.- Use faces: Humans are biologically wired to look at faces. Use photos of your team or community members.
- Avoid generic stock: A real photo of your office is better than a high-res photo of a generic office.
- Brand colors: Use your primary brand color in the background of your images for consistency.
- Meme responsibly: A well-placed meme can drive huge engagement, but use them sparingly so they don’t lose their “spark.”
4. Structuring Action Steps
If a challenge has multiple steps, order them by increasing difficulty:- Step 1 (Easy): “Click here to see the new feature.” (Get them committed).
- Step 2 (Medium): “What is your favorite part about it?” (Get them thinking).
- Step 3 (Harder): “Record a 30-second video of you using it.” (The big win).
5. Writing “Success Messages”
What happens when they finish? Nudj shows a “Success Modal.” Don’t leave it as “You earned 100 points.” Make it a celebration:- “Incredible work! You’re officially a Top Fan. 🏆”
- “Boom! 100 points added to your wallet. What are you buying first? 🛍️”
- “Knowledge is power! You aced that quiz. Check the leaderboard to see your new rank.”
The Engagement Checklist
Before you hit “Live,” ask yourself:- Does the title make me want to click?
- Is the first step so easy they can’t say no?
- Is it clear what they get at the end?
- Does the image look good on mobile?
